Manuscript Evaluation

You've finished your book, screenplay, stage play, or short story; it's brilliant. Now what? Is it time to submit?

Make sure your manuscript is submission-ready with help from the Alberta Talent Management (ATM) team of editors, publishers, producers, and other decision-makers. Debra Kurtz, owner and operator of ATM, created this Manuscript Evaluation program to help writers put forth their best work while helping her peers meet new talent from the comfort of their preferred environments.

PLEASE NOTE: While the evaluators remain anonymous, writers may be contacted by industry professionals with interest in their work.

Service Descriptions

Full Manuscript & Project

• Comprehensive notes regarding various aspects of the project, including the manuscript, implementable strategies to bring your project closer to its audience, and other suggestions
• Manuscripts over 20,000 words are subject to an additional charge (approximately $7/page, billed separately)

Full Manuscript

• Detailed notes to highlight what is working in your manuscript, and concrete suggestions for tightening, adjusting, and refining your work
• Manuscripts over 20,000 words are subject to an additional charge (approximately $7/page, billed separately)

First 10 Pages

• General notes and questions that establish the stage of development that the project is in, and recommendations for next steps.
• "First 10 pages" = 1st 0 pages, 1st 3 scenes, 1st 3 chapters, etc., i.e.,  story opening

Academic Journal Article/Dissertation

• Specific notes and suggestions for readability, flow, and points of public/press interest
• Papers over 10,000 words are subject to an additional charge (approximately $10/page, billed separately)

Short Stories for Adult & Child Audiences

• Comprehensive notes regarding various aspects of the project, including editing, actionable strategies, team building, and other suggestions
